Conquest vs Expedition

One of the most confusing aspects for new players in Kingshot is understanding the difference between Conquest and Expedition modes. These two battle systems use completely different hero skills, so knowing which is which will help you prioritize your skill upgrades correctly.

Why It Matters

• Wasted resources: Upgrading the wrong skill type means your hero won't perform well in the mode you actually play
• Different formations: Each mode has unique team composition rules
• Separate skill manuals: You need specific manuals for each skill type—they're not interchangeable
• Hero effectiveness varies: A hero strong in Conquest might be average in Expedition, and vice versa

Conquest (Suppress)

Conquest is the town-based PvE stage progression system where you clear stages step-by-step:

• Conquest/Suppress tab - Clear stages to unlock better idle/AFK rewards
• Arena (daily PvP rankings) - Uses the same "Battle/Conquest" skill set
• Missions and events often require "clear Conquest Stage X"

How it works:

• Progress through numbered stages in town
• Each stage cleared improves your passive resource generation
• Uses your heroes' Conquest skills (same skills used in Arena)
• Pure hero combat, no troops involved

Expedition

Expedition is the turn-based combat system used for world map battles:

• Solo marches against beasts and players
• Alliance rallies on Terrors
• Castle Battle, Sanctuary Battles, Kingdom of Power, and other world map events

How it works:

• Combat proceeds in rounds (turn-based system)
• Heroes' Expedition skills trigger during battle (many are chance/proc-based)
• Rally mechanics are critical:
• Rally leader's 3 heroes: All their Expedition skills contribute fully
• Rally joiners: Only the first 4 joiners contribute, and only their 1st Expedition skill is active
• Troop power + hero Expedition skills determine effectiveness

Hero Skills: The Critical Difference

Every hero has separate skill sets for each mode:

Skill Manuals:

• Conquest Skill Manuals → upgrade Conquest skills only
• Expedition Skill Manuals → upgrade Expedition skills only

You can find a hero's skills in the Heroes tab under the skills section. Look for the icon indicating which mode each skill applies to.

Tips for F2P Players

• Prioritize Expedition skills if you focus on world map activities, rallies, and alliance events—this is where most meaningful progression happens
• Prioritize Conquest skills if you want higher Arena rankings for daily gems
• Don't spread thin: Focus on 3-5 core heroes per mode rather than upgrading everyone
• Check hero guides before investing manuals—some heroes excel in one mode but are weak in another

What to Avoid / Common Mistakes

• Upgrading the wrong skill type: Always double-check whether you're upgrading Conquest or Expedition skills
• Ignoring class requirements: For Expedition, you MUST have Marksman + Infantry + Lancer—don't invest only in one class
• Using rare manuals on weak heroes: Skill manuals are scarce; save them for your best heroes

The Bottom Line
